Delia ~ Delia Smith ~ How to Cheat at Cooking only £9.90

First Episode ~ Potatoes (of five programs)

Delia Smith is back on BBC2 with five programmes that have Delia showing us ready-made of the shelf products we can use to take the time and effort out of preparing a great meal. Mondays, 8.30pm on BBC Two, starting 10 March.

We begin with potatoes, straight from the soil? No! We are to forget peeling and scrubbing, says Delia - frozen mash is the way to escape hard work. Very much the Nigella Lawson approach? We see favourites being prepared with the mash, such as shepherd's pie and fish pie.

What about a chilled summer soup.  Also a frozen rösti are used in an easy-to-make bread loaf. A Peruvian dish, Patatas Arequipa, is made with oven-ready potato wedges. In Nigella mode we get to know more about Delia than ever before as the cameras get a glimpse of Delia's world beyond the kitchen and find out how family, faith and football play a big part in her life. Faith ~ no not Nigella! Football? Does she take taxis?

To be fair though Delia Smith has produced a new take on cooking. Following the cooking trend, Nigella Lawson, Gordon Ramsay and Delia are looking to produce good meals, based on simple processes and handy ingredients. For the times when we have little time to cook. Delia explains how to change our approach to cooking, whether we are beginners or know our way around the kitchen. A change in the way we use the freezer is introduced as is how to shop. We will see how Delia compares to the trendy cooks.

Recipes include, Creole Prawns, Good old shepherds pie, Ministrone with orecchiette and borlotti beans, Spinich tortelloni with leeks and gorgonzolaCaribbean chicken with salsa and Portugese custard tarts.

A new book from Delia on the 15th Feb 2008, our offer is less than £10.

Delia Smith has been cooking for the UK public for more than 25 years and she is one of the great UK chefs who have always taught the basics of cooking good plain tasty food.

She has tested all her recipes to ensure simplicity of the recipe yet retaining the quality of the food.

She started cooking when young, after a boyfriend had commented so positively on a previous girlfriends cooking talents, so Delia decided to take up the challenge and show what she could do. Not too bad by the looks of things!

Delia has been the cookery writer for the Mirror and has written also for the London Evening Standard.
