Hell's Kitchen ~ Marco Pierre White
New series on ITV1 due soon.
Marco Pierre White takes over from the icon, Gordon Ramsay and vows to be original, having said he has never seen the previous series. Historically the previous clash of temperaments rumbles on and agro was inevitable with Gordon's take no prisoner approach and Marco's experience and being the base and guide for so many of the UK chefs' success. Speaking of Gordon, it is believed that Marco Pierre White was offered the original series before Gordon stepped in.
Back to Marco Pierre White, Marco's story is remarkable and his autobiography is worth reading!
Two are available:
A remarkable career has seen Marco Pierre White, train at Le Gravoche open an amazing restaurant called Harveys. Incidentally Gordon worked there for three years. Marco then reached the height of three Michelin stars at the former Hyde Park hotel aged of 33, then at his peak, only to retire in 1999 and not cook since!
However he has been in New York in the US and appeared on the Martha Stewart show recently presenting a cookery demonstration of how to prepare halibut with citrus and cilantro . Click here for Video links page. Next Marco returns to the UK and prepares for the new series of Hell's Kitchen.
But Marco still owns or has an interest in many restaurants, one of which is a partnership with Sir Rocco Forte, called Lucianos, off St James St just around the corner from the Ritz. The pair have always been close particularly when Pierre was at the Hyde Park Hotel.
A new venture at Chelsea FC has resulted in 'Marco' a brasserie style resurant with a contemporary edge, due to open around September 07. Additional restaurants include:
Marco Pierre White's Yew Tree Inn.
Holland Park, London W8
Piccadilly London W1
Belgravia London SW1
Soho London W1
Curzon Street London W1
Soho London W1
Well we look forward to the new series and it is worth reading up on the history of Marco, Le Gravoche and how our current batch of chefs all began their careers.
